Snowmobiling in Maine

This is was a pretty nice 150-Miles Snowmobile trip, in The Forks, Northern Maine, not far from the US-Canadian border, on 02/22/07 sponsored by Eurobrew/Eurobubblies.

The Forks, ME

VIDEO - The Forks:

We arrive at the location the night before, coming from Boston, MA and stopped at a local restaurant for refreshments.

It was a pretty night, the sky was covered with stars

The chalet where we stayed.

Getting the sleds ready to roll.

However, we were required to watch 30 min of instructional video before riding the machines...

Warming up and inspecting the sleds.

VIDEO - Let's roll!

Stop at the top of the hill.

Thick jackets are needed to stand the harsh temperature in the Maine winter (-3 Fº /-20 cº).

The cockpit view of a snowmobile.

VIDEO - Lets go back to the action!

Waiting everyone to regroup.

A long way to go...

Stopping to gas-up

VIDEO - Refueling

Crossing the 3-feet thick frozen Moosehead Lake.

Pit-Stop for Lunch!

VIDEO - Back to the lake....

Beautiful view of the Moosehead Lake

VIDEO - A little incident.

No one was injured. The snowmobile however, had minor damages.

Where are we? Is this the right map? Thank God we had a GPS! :)

Its getting dark.

VIDEO

Now, after riding almost 150 miles, it is completely dark. We will now have to rely in the snowmobile's powerful headlights to complete our journey.
